Keeping project documents together

One project, one starting point
When everyone keeps a personal list of links, a handover becomes a scavenger hunt. Choose one project overview as the starting point and link the current brief, the working documents and the next milestone from it. The overview should point to the work rather than repeat every detail.
Name documents for the next person
A title such as October launch: support handover tells a teammate more than Notes v7 final. Put the subject first, keep dates where they help and use the description to explain who owns the document. A short naming convention is easier to maintain than a complicated folder system.
Keep the decision, replace the draft
Archive drafts after a milestone, but retain the notes that explain decisions. Use the archive to preserve context without letting old versions crowd the main library. Before moving a document, check whether another project links to it and leave a pointer when appropriate.
Make a handover repeatable
Our project checklist includes an owner, a summary, the latest resources and an open questions section. Download the checklist from Resources, adapt the headings to your work and review it with a teammate who was not part of the project. Anything they cannot find belongs in the overview.
